current obsession > drawing

In the last month to date, Lucy has drawn more than she has her entire life (3.6 years).  I am so exhilarated its finally happening! I thought there was no hope that my daughter would be an artist...then my hope lessened when I thought she disliked art all together... But now...!! I realized I don't care how good or bad she is, she is at least into it.  And just in case this is fluke, a short time fling, I am going to soak it up as much as I can.  This I could get used too...

Oh, in case you couldn't tell - That's Lucy (her first self portrait) and Theo on the left.  Mommy is on the right with Daddy in the corner.  We are all in the grass, by the water...with some really big belly buttons :) And those two circles on dad... she said it's a hat...

...So all those coloring books that we stocked up on with maybe one page scribbled in...are almost completely filled in..with both hands...although, she stays much more in the lines with her left.  Not sure what made the switch, but a little bit of me thinks she saw her very artistic cousin, penny drawing in tahoe, and somehow it clicked...or she wants to be just like her?  Her baby has since been named penny.

One of those child comments you will never forget...

Penny: "Lucy that drawing is really great!!"  Huge Smile.

(Her eyes looked over to me with a sort of.."you know I'm just saying that, right?!")

...later in her room alone with her mom...

Penny: "Mom, Lucy isn't a very good artist...I was just saying that to be nice!"

Well, whatever you did or said penny...I kind of give you credit for the push :)

in the moment > chocolate chocolate chip cookies...

Mom (after washing lucy up): "Lucy, did you get into the cookie dough again"?

Lucy (chocolate covering her face with an attempted wipe): "Nooo..."

I'm pretty sure she will get her batter fix this Christmas.

Lucy at 5:15 am: "Mom I can't sleep because of the baby..." (Up a little too early....)

in the moment > ghost girl

She's chosen to be called a number of things during the halloween week...

(Bat-girl Ballerina, Owlette, Ghost Girl, ... The Joker... all on top of her regular > Baby, Elsa, Mommy, the Teacher, the Patient, the Doctor, etc.)

It gets a bit confusing.

my lucy > sunset twirls & wishes

Me: "Lucy, what are you wishing for"?

Lucy: "Yiayia and Papouli"

Me: "What are you wishing for Yiayia and Papouli"?

Lucy: "I'm wishing for them to stay pretty because they are old.  I don't want the garbage man to take them away"....

May this wish come true. My wish is that they will live forever.

her words > not a key chain

I pulled these two pipe cleaners from Lucy's backpack after she came home from school.  She immediately put one on with excitement.  The other didn't make as much sense so I made a key chain for her out of it.  That's when I realized my mistake...

Lucy: "Mom! That's not a key chain! It's for the baby"!

Me: "Your baby? Baby"?

Lucy: "Nooo! Obi-wan Kenobi Mom...."

I stood there stunned...and soaked it all in. 

her words > it's official, we have a name

Mom: "What's in my belly"?

Lucy: "A baby..."

Mom: "Is the baby in my belly a boy or girl"?

Lucy: "A boy..."

Mom: "What's his name"?

Lucy: "Obi-wan Kenobi" 

This has been legit for at least a month now - I'm sure it's the one :)

current obession > her signed cast

 She loves her new pink cast... We made it 2 full weeks with the purple cutie with only signs of a little stink.  It's been only one week with pinkie pie and we have painted lovely brown on it, jumped in the pool without it sealed, and now her favorite thing is to get it signed.  I'm pretty sure after this 90 degree week, the stink will return!  It's becoming a new member of the family... :)

Lucy to strangers on the street with dripping ice cream down her cast, "HI! Sign my cast please...!!!" and yes, we have some strangers who've signed it! No introduction needed.  My favorite is the david the mailman. (whom as taken a year now to warm up too - i think he finally realized he couldn't escape us)...

Lucy: "Mom...my right arm fell asleep...and so did my left arm" 

(lifting opposite arms in such a cute pathetic voice)

Me: "Hmmm....how do you think we can fix it"?

Lucy: "Do you have any jumping beans"???????

her words > bad attitude

I was explaining to Lucy the difference of good and bad attitude.  Concentrating more on the bad... 

Not 2 minutes later...

Lucy: "Mommy, throw me in the garbage! I have Bad Atti-tude!"

my lucy > dresses over pj's

We are officially in the dress up phase.  I'm surprised it took this long....  You may be seeing lots more of dresses over pj's.  This 'dress up' also includes lots of baby powder while alone in her room, as well as Vaseline over her entire face, oh and baby butt cream slathered on her skin.  She says it makes her Beautiful!  I have a couple people in mind I can blame for this thought process!

If only you saw how much Vaseline covered her face! Bahaha!!!!!

It was pretty cute when Lucy and Daddy did this on my Birthday - A month behind, but it's never too late... Right? So here is what she has to say about Dad :) I'm pretty sure she starts off describing herself, slowly she makes headway.  And Daddy's job?  Black and Green describe his Godzillas' - yup, I'm pretty sure she thinks he plays with Godzilla all day!

 She became crazed when she discovered where we were headed.  Yet through all that happiness, she was completely confused that I wasn't wearing my leotard as well.  Maybe next week....

[after it all] I can say it was a success! Lucy is my wonder woman :)

Lucy: "A Purple Scooter"!!! 

Thank Goodness she said it loud enough...so Santa could make last minute changes two days before Christmas...  She is in love.

in the moment > planes, blimps & helicopters make her happy

One rough day filled with tears (yes, both of us) followed by a day of perfection.  We stopped at the local airport to enjoy a bag of peanut m&m's as the vintage planes took off and landed during fleet week. She said she wants to be a helicopter pilot when she grows up.  Maybe someday she can fly me around the world...

I spend a lot of time these days deleting pics from my phone. Lucy gets on quite the rampage with running around the house saying "cheeeese".  Most shots are giant blurs, black (because her fingers are covering), or of her forehead when she has the lens switched around.  Regardless, I'm impressed that she gets the concept.  I love her.

Cannot wait to see you this Christmas! I've gotten so big since you have seen me last! For your Birthday, I will sing a Birthday song..."Ha-Pee, Ha-Pee, Haaaaa-Peeeeee"!!!! (Applause)
