in the moment > total crash

I woke up to find we all crashed missing the second half of Willy Wonka. I gotta say it felt good. It was also at that moment I realized I was freezing. All I wanted was a blanket. I just stared around the quiet room. Then I realized it's almost 5 o'clock and I have nothing for dinner. All we had today was donuts and chocolate milk after church.

We survived.

let's adventure > it's a new year

New Year's Resolution: To do something new once a month. (Explore the San Francisco/Oakland/East Bay area, and/or travel to CA destinations that are so close, but seem so far).

We opted for Ice Skating until we collect enough snow gear to go sledding in the snow... Lucy wanted to keep going - so adventure #1 was a success!

We've been together a lot lately - at least it seems like that for the last 3 years... The past two weekends have been fun - Car Show then Air Show. What else would 2 girls do?! [I'm not sure she even looked up at the sky this time...] We definitely need a little boy in our life!

thru her eyes > "cheeeese"

I spend a lot of time these days deleting pics from my phone. Lucy gets on quite the rampage with running around the house saying "cheeeese". Most shots are giant blurs, black (because her fingers are covering), or of her forehead when she has the lens switched around. Regardless, I'm impressed that she gets the concept. I love her.

order up > chicken a la king...with a little help

This time of year is really tough with Patrick working so much. We missed him at Thanksgiving and wanted to make it up to him by making my all time favorite meal. This was "the meal" asked specifically on all my birthdays growing up. So this time, for him, Lucy and I got to it in the kitchen. A feel good meal for dad :) Ice cube trays not included...

A few things changed since 1989... Fresh mushrooms are used (closer to 1-2 cups) and more color is added with one green pepper and 1/2 a yellow pepper. Feel free to add hot sauce on top of final product for some kick. This just may be the easiest recipe ever....and it will always bring me back to the dinner table growing up. Maybe it's not about the taste per say, as it is more about the memories. Glad to make it for my Patrick.
