her words > lucy answers all about daddy at 2.5 years old

It was pretty cute when Lucy and Daddy did this on my Birthday - A month behind, but it's never too late... Right? So here is what she has to say about Dad :) I'm pretty sure she starts off describing herself, slowly she makes headway.  And Daddy's job?  Black and Green describe his Godzillas' - yup, I'm pretty sure she thinks he plays with Godzilla all day!

sneak peak > a cold & wet day at the zoo

Things started off 'iffy' when I realized how cold and windy it really was. Of course, I didn't pack warmer clothes... so we walked really fast to warm up. I'm not sure we even stopped to see any animals...I figured we'd make up for it once we warmed up.

Then we made it to the lily pads...

Where Lucy fell in... (socks and shoes soaked, pants and underwear soggy, and left side all wet) :(

It was still cold, it was still windy (but we just got there and the car was all the way back)!  So I gave her my socks and we ate lunch.  I asked her what she wanted to do...

All she wanted was her buttons.  Then the sun came out!

And this little cheesecake made the most of her trip at the zoo!!

Normally we only go on the carousel at the end (I tell her we need daddy who has the money), but I couldn't say no this time - after the day we had.  !! Notice her feet a the measuring post...!! Almost there :)

Thank Goodness for the Train - and her train hat :) :) :)

What a Memorable Day at the Zoo!!!

our phones > my sweet lucy

I know I've posted these recently on instagram - but I couldn't resist posting again on the blog.  This girl is my favorite thing in the world.  She helps me clean up (sometimes creating a larger mess :), she plays innocently sweet, she has the brightest smile with the best giggle, she loves to jump for joy at any opportunity, and her imagination keeps growing beyond my wildest thoughts.  She is my sweet lucy... xo

replay > hot 8 brass band > sexual healing

Have you seen the movie Chef? Obsession is an understatement for me. The movie is super super cute, and the music is crazy good.  I have listened to entire soundtrack at least 3 times daily since my birthday night.  So yeah, go get a copy if you want to sing out loud, dance, and/or just feel good!  Have a Great Weekend!

...Back in the day [high school], I remember being crammed inside friends' cars blasting marvin gaye and singing this song out loud...

sneak peak > a birthday getaway

I got quite the birthday treat this weekend - a short getaway to Tomales Bay for some incredibly yummy seafood at Nick's Cove :)  Followed with an afternoon stroll in Petaluma.  Drinks, a movie, and sushi included. I think I got my fix of eating all things I literally dream about. And you can never go wrong meeting up with family too!

All of this could have been possible had we had Lucy, but it would not (in this situation) have been as memorable.  So thanks Juju for taking Lucy for the night.  You wiped her out!

It was a pretty good birthday :) xo

move me > a nostalgic starry night

We did a free trial "Discover Dance" at the Valley Dance Theatre this week.  I'm trying to decide what would be best for Lucy at this age (based on what's offered at 2.5 yrs).  It's close between gymnastics and dance.  Here is a cute clip of a short 'free dance' the kids did with the pom poms making the sound of rain.  I thought Lucy expressed herself oh so eloquently :)  With the Beauty of the Song chosen, I had to post.  It put me in a slight trance - kind of like being inside of a nostalgic home video at that exact moment.  This is the type of song I hear in my head...a perfect fit in the soundtrack of my life, or maybe my Lucy's...

[Side Note: If anyone has heard this song before please let me know from where...a movie soundtrack?  a wedding?  I feel like I've heard it before and it's driving me mad.  Maybe that's why I feel the nostalgia.  All I have found is that it is on "Baby Genius - Starry Night"....I know that's not where I heard it from...]

Thank Miss Kristin for opening the door to something new ~ xo ~ lucy.

my lucy > first day of gymnastics

She became crazed when she discovered where we were headed.  Yet through all that happiness, she was completely confused that I wasn't wearing my leotard as well.  Maybe next week....

[after it all] I can say it was a success! Lucy is my wonder woman :)

my lucy < this slide, that smile

Shortly after we moved to CA almost 2 years ago, our new neighbors were about to throw out this slide.  They asked hesitant that Lucy would be too small for it.  I'm pretty sure since that day I said "we'll take it" it has been used more than any other toy we own. Almost all outdoor photos I have contain this lovely salmon and blue. Though it has brought bumps, bruises, blood, traumatic backward falls, and yes scars... it has undoubtedly brought so much joy to our everyday lives.  I have seen some of Lucy's biggest smiles on this slide, and I'm sure she has seen some of ours right back at her :)

move me < her very own purple scooter

Me: "What do you want for Christmas"?

Lucy: "A Purple Scooter"!!!

Thank Goodness she said it loud enough...so Santa could make last minute changes two days before Christmas...  She is in love.

my lucy < halfway thru winter (hopefully)

It was a beautiful day outside today - not warm enough to run through fountains, but these photos from October give me hope that full time warmth will be here soon.  If only we all could run through the town in our undies (wink)!
